Design and construction of a 1,000 m3 wood chip storage silo and boiler feeding system alongside an existing coal-fired boiler.

As general EPC contractor, we delivered the complete design, construction, installation and commissioning of the biomass receiving, storage and feeding system, covering:

Process design (P&ID)

Mechanical design

Control and power design

Fabrication, equipment supply and installation

Trial operation and commissioning

Training and as-built documentation

Client: ALPIQ Zlín power plant

About the facility:

Wood chips delivered by lorry are carried from the receiving station by a conveyor system to the 1,000 m3 storage silo. From the silo, a second conveyor system takes them to the fluidised bed boiler, where they are fed in by a screw feeder passing through the boiler wall. A rotary air lock prevents combustion air from flowing back. The system is designed for a feed capacity of 5 t/h.
